Structure and Operation
LiFePO₄ batteries consist of a graphite anode, a lithium iron phosphate cathode (LiFePO₄), and a separator to prevent direct contact between the anode and cathode. During discharge, lithium ions move from the anode to the cathode, where they are stored within the crystalline structure of the iron phosphate. During charging, the process is reversed.
